What to Expect

The Interagency Collaborative Animal Research Education (ICARE) Academies use active learning techniques that are proven to increase the effectiveness of adult education by engaging the learner in hands-on activities that require the application of high-level concepts. • Evaluate the contribution of IACUC policies to animal welfare, regulatory drift, and investigator burden
  • Identify resources that may be used to increase IACUC function efficiency
  • Explain federal standards and ethical considerations in protocol review
  • Describe effective post approval review methodologies
  • Formulate a strategy for implementing the concepts learned
  • Develop behaviors that lead to better communications within the IACUC and between the IACUC, investigators, and Institutional Officials
