MOUs for Collaborating Institutions: New Template from the Federal Demonstration Partnership (FDP)

Audience: The program is tailored to IACUC staff, IACUC members, IOs, veterinarians, investigators, compliance personnel, animal care staff, and others involved in animal programs.

Speakers:

  • Axel Wolff, DVM, MS Deputy Director, Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare, NIH
  • Amanda Humphrey, MBA Chief Research Operations, Northeastern University

Topic: OLAW has high standards for ensuring the appropriate care and welfare of vertebrate animals. The Guide sets forth the expectation that even if vertebrate animal research is taking place at another institution, all institutions engaged in the research project have a responsibility to document, understand, and ensure that they know and understand the roles of responsibilities of each participating institution.

Members of FDP worked with OLAW, USDA, and the VA to craft a memorandum of understanding that aligns with the expectations of the Guide.
