OLAW Newsletters Transitioning to NIH Listserv System Effective August 18
While OLAW will continue to publish newsletters with important announcements and upcoming events, things will look a little different later this month. NIH is transitioning to the listserv system. What you need to know:
- After August 18, 2025, OLAW news will come as listserv emails from [email protected] on behalf of [email protected]. Please add both of these email addresses to your safe senders list. There is no set date for the next newsletter to come out at this time; this is just the effective date of the change.
- Current newsletter subscribers will automatically be subscribed to the listserv.
- Please do NOT use the subscription management links in any previous newsletters from now on. The OLAW listserv information webpage will be updated with new subscription management information at the time of transition.
The transition does not require any action on your part. However, if you find that you are no longer receiving OLAW news after some time (i.e., mid-September), please manually subscribe to the listserv in the event that there was an error in transferring your subscription. Please reach out to the OLAW Division of Policy and Education if you have any questions!

September 25, 2025 | In-person | Pittsburgh, PA
The 3Rs Symposium Returns! This year's symposium will focus on reduction, refinement, and replacement methods to improve laboratory animal welfare while maintaining or improving scientific results.
Sessions will discuss opportunities to use the 3Rs of replacement, reduction and refinement to improve efficiency and rigor and improve animal welfare. This year we will focus on introductions to the 3Rs on the first day, more in-depth applications on the second and third day, and integration of the three Rs on the last day. Presentations on useful resources and communications strategies are also featured throughout the 4 half-day events. Sessions are designed for investigators, laboratory animal veterinarians, care staff, and IACUC members and staff. Residents, students, and postdocs are also welcome! Please join us online as we learn from the speakers and each other! There will be opportunities built into the program for attendees to ask questions, comment, or offer suggestions.
This virtual event will be submitted for RACE Credits. To register to attend, click the link below:
